The board’s August read on White Rock and South Surrey houses: the detached benchmark is $1,649,200, down 7.5 percent on the year and up 0.1 percent on the month. 48 houses sold in August into 616 for sale, 7.8 percent of listings (5.5 percent a year ago), which the board’s scale calls a buyers’ market; 137 new listings came on and the median sale was $1,623,523.

The rest of the peninsula: the townhome benchmark is $820,300, down 11.1 percent in a year, with 11.8 percent of townhomes selling in the month; the condo benchmark $550,800, down 6.2 percent, with 16.2 percent of condos selling. Valley-wide it took an average 45 days to sell a house, 37 a townhome and 45 a condo; the board publishes no peninsula-only days figure.
